Mazur Instruments PRM-9000 Settings? was created by TARFU
Hello to all, brand new here(as of yesterday) and I'm having issues getting my Mazur Instruments PRM-9000 to count accurately in the program. My normal background is 35CPM, however its registering 1,600+CPM when connected. The detector is connected via the USB data cable, computer is running Win-10. I am currently reporting on radiationnetwork.com, however the server that feeds that website seems to be having issues as of yesterday AM, hence my interest in possibly shifting my station over here. I am hoping someone here is running the same PRM-9000 detector, and can possibly lend some settings insights. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to radmon.org!
I have just had a quick look online for info on your counter (it looks like a nice counter with a good tube), but I can't really find anything with regards to the serial protocol. Is it possible the serial output is outputting CPS (counts per second), instead of CPM (counts per minute)? Doing quick math 1600 CPS would be about 26 CPM.
Can you fire up a serial terminal program and see what the actual output is? Radlog software will only work with CPM as far as I know.

Aha! I have found the manual and found the following regarding the serial protocol:
21
24
27
23
etc.
It looks like the serial protocol for your counter outputs something like:
“10:30:00”,”04/08/2011”,“000025”,”CPM”
“10:31:00”,”04/08/2011”,“000027”,”CPM”
“10:32:00”,”04/08/2011”,“000028”,”CPM”
“10:33:00”,”04/08/2011”,“000026”,”CPM”
Radlog will be getting it's knickers in a twist with all the other text. You maybe able to use the audio output from your counter into the line in of your PC sound card/onboard sound.
Radlog will work with the CPM only, each time on a new line, and nothing else, such as:Using the optional 3.5mm to USB cable, the PRM Instrument will output a comma separated value (CSV) text string every minute. The string includes the time, date, six digit CPM value as well as the text “CPM” to indicate the units. For Example: “10:30:00”,”04/08/2011”,“000025”,”CPM”

As you can see I was able to get this ironed out last night. Now polling here, radiationnetwork.com, and APRS simultaneously. Thanks for the scoop!!
