Treated water release from Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant starts

TEPCO analyzed the concentration of tritium, which is measured in units called "becquerel." It found the diluted water contained between 43 to 63 becquerels per liter. That is far below Japan's environmental release standards of 60,000 becquerels per liter.
...
The full process is expected to take at least thirty years.

This is a very interesting short (21 minutes) video by Kyle Hill about the waste water release, but also his visit to Fukushima Diiachi. There were a couple of twists I did not expect.

Warning: Spoiler!

I struggle to watch this kind of thing from start to finish. One doozy after another, starting with the lie that the tsunami and subsequent power failure is what caused Daichi to blow, when according to reliable eye witness accounts - ie - engineers on site at the time, and others (conveniently misplaced accounts) - the plant was irretrievably damaged at the time of the earthquake - by the earthquake. Japan's NPPs are not earthquake proof and Japan sits atop a major tectonic fault line. The nuclear industry lives on lies. Lies are the air the industry breathes, and Fukushima Daichi is a showcase for lies - A lavish display! Sure, they have some "clean" water to discharge while the camera is rolling, or while the "inspectors" have their beakers in hand. They may even have already discharged the worst of it - But with so much money at stake, the one thing you can count on is deceit.
