Hi All!
The high readings for the GA station are actually real. My cat just got back from an I131 treatment at the vet on Tuesday, Jan 20.
The counter is in the room with her near where I guess she's laying down.
She's pretty mad at me about the whole vet thing, but I got her to sit still for about 6 sec, and got a reading of about 37000cpm
with the tube held about an inch from her neck, on Fri, Jan 23.
Anyone good enough with math to properly calculate the biological half-life of I131 ?
-Greg
(someone move this to the correct forum? sorry for the derp!)

That's a real hot cat you've got there. What will you do with the kitty litter?

Well, the official story is to flush the litter. Here's why:
1. Leaving it as a solid would mean that if was thrown away in the normal trash, it might set off detectors somewhere.
2. liquid waste means fast dilution.
3. half-life of I-131 is something like 8.1 days, so it will be as harmless in a matter of weeks.

Wow, clicky kitty
Hope your cat gets better. In the meantime, take lots of readings
I have just added the feature of being able to add notes to the data in RadLog.

Holy crap,l was just going to ask whats up with the GA and FL readings. FL has been high for a day or two, but same reading now so something is wrong, then GA popped up too but at least there is an explanation for that one. Hope the kitty gets well soon. My wife had xrays of her leg where she broke it on ice and is in a cast, I brought one of my detectors with me but didn't really show anything on it after a few minutes sitting on it.
Oh, back a few years ago, I had one of them nuclear stress test done, was not fun, but wish I was into this hobby then, would have loved to see what I would have showed on the detector..

Yeah that is one hot kitty! I was also wondering what was going on. Glad to hear it was just the vet visit. Hope the cat is feeling better.
