Hum, that is interesting Dan, Is there a reason for going this route? ex: Google being a pita? I did check out the new one.

Many of us are getting the "for development purposes" nag line like the attached. Google wants to charge websites if the requests for a map exceed a certain amount. If I understand it correctly, some types of maps (particular APIs) may remain free but those would likely be missing features like scrolling to streets or satellite view.

Understood, I have seen this popping up on other sites as well that use google maps. What a shame, money, money, money.
