Forum editor not working properly?

I'm really struggling with the forum editor. It seems that if I create a post from scratch, I can add the proper formatting (bold etc), smilies and attachments, but when I go to edit the post only the 1st couple of paragraphs are there and the rest is gone. It is also gone when I hit the 'source' button. It also seems that any closed formatting /b /size etc all end up at the very end of the post in some cases. It is all a bit strange. To combat this at the moment I'm literally having to re-write the whole post by copy/pasting the text and re-adding the attachments and moving the closed formatting each time I want to edit, 

I'm using Brave browser, but found the same in Firefox.
