G'day and Greetings from Vermont South in Australia - take 2

Greetings from Vermont South in Australia,I have just joined this community and writing to say "Hello". There are two instruments that are operational and sending data to RadMon. DM_VSRO: The first is a typical Geiger Counter instrument the ETI-562 which is a project from the Electronics Today International magazine in April 1980 – but I found it in a later compilation publication ‘Projects for Young Scientists’. The tube was changed from the diminutive Philips ZP1310 to a larger SBM-20. This project was a COVID-19 project, so I etched my own PCB and used whatever transistors I had that were compatible. My primary interest is (radio) astronomy, so the Geiger counter’s purpose is to provide baseline measurements for the second project…DM_VSRO_muon_coinc: The second project is a Cosmic Ray Telescope, which is two Geiger tubes (150mm apart) mounted in a frame which has Azimuth and Elevation motorized adjustments. The output signals of the two STS-6 tubes pass through voltage discriminators (comparators) which have been adjusted so that when the tube ‘fires’ the output is a digital pulse of a few microseconds, both outputs are logically ANDed which indicates that a muon has passed through both tubes. It is possible that both tubes are triggered by two different muons close in time apart, but this this is a much lower probability than muons generated from primary cosmic rays. The Cosmic Ray Telescope is still undergoing tests (angle of incidence), by adjusting the elevation angle each month and plotting the counts/statistics, one can see counts decrease from Zenith which is the maximum number of counts.I will update the station information to indicate the Elevation angle and the Azimuth (at the moment either geographic East or West).Regards,David

Hi David, welcome to radmon.org.
That is a really nice bit of kit you have built there. Well done! It is very impressive. I have had it on the cards for some time to build a coincidence detector, but the version in my head is nothing like yours. I may have to rethink this somewhat in the future when I come to put something together. Again, very nice work, quite professional.
I have deleted your other post that went awry. Not sure what happened there but I have seen it happen once before. No matter, all tidied up now.
