Meeting on low level radiation standards

Recently, the American Nuclear Society and the Health Physics Society hosted an historically important meeting on updating the scientific basis for low dose radiation protection standards. There were presentations and evidence both supporting and refuting the LNT model (Linear No Threshold - "there is no safe dose"). A summary report is here:

It appears to boil down to a persistent disconnect between some lab experiments that show an effect at cellular/molecular levels and epidemiological studies that support healing of radiation damage / no correlation between death and radiation level (below 100 mGy).
