A vast cloud of nuclear radiation that spreadover continental Europe in 2017 has been traced to an unacknowledged nuclear accident in southern Russia.

I'm surprised at the size of the leak, Ru106 decays by beta so this could have been measurable with typical SMB-20 style detectors if the concentration was enough... Not surprised that it was from Mayak though.
This website was hacked and rebuilt starting March 2018, so this data is archived but not imported. It might be worth digging it out and amending the time data is kept for. Given the time it takes for studies to be made and news to be reported it might be a good idea to increase this time to 5 years, providing there is enough disk space. Yearly zipped archives could help reduce database load.
