Hi,

I really like radmon.org and I've worked with joomla modules and live data before. I used the leaflet map in another project which has some excellent abilities to add extra layers such as weather. This sort of info being available overlaid on the map would be really cool... Take a look at the interactive map here: http://www.lovechannelswimming.com/swims and look at the layers control in the top right of the map.

Would you consider this sort of addition to the map? Do you feel that it would add value to the readings? Although you have historical data visible for each of the stations individually, is it possible to get a historical map view that shows all the stations values at a particular point in the past? This would be a great asset to the site, I think...

Thanks,
Ed

Yeah that's a good idea! A rainfall map on top would be great.
I just looked to see if there was a weather layer for google maps, but it has been deprecated and will stop working soon.
leaflet looks nice, it seems to work well on the website. How does it cope with lots of markers?

A historical snapshot of the map is possible. That could lead to making an animation of the map with rain and marker colour changes.

Also, cool website! How is the data moved around from swimmer to map?

Thanks :)

Leaflet is great and handles markers and refreshes very well. We have normally got more vessels displayed, unfortunately we're down an AIS station as it was struck by lightning. Our usual coverage is right round into the river Thames and down to Calais.

Our peak load on a busy, well publicised swim was about 1200 people connected (to a single server!) and it handled it pretty well. The load average was crazy high but it plodded through ok.

I'm more than happy to lend a hand with the map, the weather layers are so simple it's unreal. :)

Cheers,
Ed
