Hello fellow radmonauts!

A new version of Rad Pro — the open-source custom firmware for several popular Geiger counters — has just been released. Quite a few people here run their stations off Rad Pro-flashed devices (often via the RadPro WiFi Bridge on an ESP32), so I thought this group would want to know.

Supported devices: FS2011, Bosean FS-600 / FS-1000 / FS-5000, FNIRSI GC-01, FNIRSI GC-03 (new!), GQ GMC-800.

What's new in 3.1:
  • FNIRSI GC-03 support — a brand-new device added to the family.
  • Tube sensitivities now based on numerical simulations from the companion project Rad Lab . If you've ever wondered whether your default conversion factor was actually right for your tube, this release answers that question with physics rather than guesswork — hence the codename "Credible Sources." Worth checking your station's calibration against the new defaults.
  • Source presets — pre-configured sensitivity settings for common radiation sources (Cs-137, Co-60, etc.).
  • New Cumulative and Instantaneous secondary measurement views.
  • USB auto power-on on supported hardware — useful for stations that need to recover after a power blip.
  • 4× faster random number generator, improved key debouncing, various performance/memory optimizations.
  • Documentation split into a User Manual and a Technical Reference Manual, including a procedure for setting HV without a multimeter.
  • New translations: Indonesian, Latvian, Lithuanian. Bulgarian, Russian and Ukrainian translations were also improved.
  • Numerous device-specific fixes (Bosean FS-5000, GC-01 variants, GMC-800, etc.).
Data submission note: This release adds direct submission to openSenseMap.org. Submitting to radmon.org from a Rad Pro device is still done the usual way — through
radpro-tool
on a host PC, or via the RadPro WiFi Bridge / pyradmon / your own script using the Rad Pro USB serial protocol. Nothing changes there for existing radmon stations.

Update / install:
  • Bosean FS-600 / FS-1000 / FS-5000 (already on 3.0.2+) and GQ GMC-800: use the Rad Pro web installer .
  • Other devices: see the install instructions in the repo.
