Radmon server status

The outage earlier this morning was due to a power outage caused by a storm in SW UK. Dan fired up an emergency generator and that has been running the server and network gear since then.

The generator is still running well, but will be switched off at around midnight UTC (due to it being unattended/fire risk etc.) All being well it will be fired back up in the morning.

I'll keep people updated on X  @Radmon_org  until this is sorted.

Can confirm. Approx 3 days of 24/7 fuel available, however due to slight fire risk of unattended generator, the server will be powered down overnight and be back at around 10am tomorrow. Power is expected to be restored around lunchtime tomorrow.

There is a planned solar/wind and generator setup to give a much more extended emergency operation time (nearly 24/7/365).

Great conversation starter for what to do during widespread power outage in the event of attack / disaster etc.

Internet has been solid since losing power.
Mobile tower availability has been intermittent based on local reports.

Ok 2 lessons learned on backup power:

- Don't go straight back to grid power until it has time to stabilise. e.g. 1hr+
- Don't yank the starter on the generator too hard or the cord will break (ha). Fixed.

It's always a good day when you learn something! 

The power was returned last night so all is good.
