They ain't cheap, the shipping is high, they don't ship everywhere, and some of em, well, they just don't last that long. But they do sell Trinitite!

https://www.imagesco.com/geiger/radioactive-sources-int.html (International)
https://www.imagesco.com/geiger/radioactive-sources.html (US Domestic)

The Trinitite specimen page is hard to find on the site, so its here: https://www.imagesco.com/geiger/trinitite.html

They also sell Geiger counters and other stuff. Looks like some informational resources too but I've not checked them out yet.

Cesium-137, Cobalt-60, Strontium-90 and a Trinitite specimen are on my Christmas list! I also wouldn't mind a calibration certificate for the Cobalt-60, then I could calibrate (to within a few percent of factory specs) a lot of counters, but at $157 it's a little steep.

I contacted imagesco selling on Amazon about a week ago asking what lab did the testing on their Trinitite. Their full reply:

"The results are from one of three labs. Unfortunately, we lost our original correspondence when we updated out computer systems, so we do not have that information available."

Well, at least they answered. After they answered, they deleted my question from their Amazon page for Trinitite.

I also contacted atomicrockshop.com asking similar question. They use text from unitednuclear.com as their proof of authenticity. Their reply took some time, see below.

Yes, it does sound a little sketchy. Thanks for the heads up. From time to time Trinitite comes up for sale that whilst is a similar composition to the original Trinitite it is from other weapons testing after WWII. It's my understanding that Trinitite is from the Trinity experiment and anything else is just radioactive melted silica.

Sent another inquiry to atomicrockshop.com, here is the reply:

Hi Chuck,
Sorry for the late reply. Here's what I know about the Trinitite that I have:
1. Bought it from an government scientist from DC.
2. He purchased it from a rock and mineral dealer that got it from Dr. Pray's collection. http://www.mine-engineer.com/mining/trinity.htm
3. I have 50# of it.
4. I have had it tested by a scientist that I know and the results match the sample that was tested here: https://www.hscott.net/analyzing-trinitite-a-radioactive-piece-of-nuclear-history/
Beta/Gamma = 40,000 dpm/100cm^2, fixed contamination. 0 dpm/100cm^2 smearable (dpm = disintegrations per minute)
5. I have sold over 130 specimens with not complaints. 2 of which to the grand daughter of a Manhattan project scientist.

I plan to do a spectrograph in the near future but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I hope this helps. Thank you for your interest.
Cheers,
Scott

Thanks for that GetSirius. Those samples look much nicer than the ones on imagesco.com. Unfortunately it looks like they will only ship within the US :(
