Ok some of you who keep a regular check on stations on radmon.org might have notice my station information change to 'Testing radmon.org radbox-20' or something along those lines.
That's because I have been making an external, waterproof background radiation monitoring box that will be available to buy on radmon.org.
Its features:
- Regulated tube HT power supply
- SBM-20 tube
- Waterproof case with cable gland
- Waterproof count LED
- Flange mounting case for easy fixing
- LED and audio click can be enabled/disabled as required
- Connects to your PC via 1 x USB and 1 x gold plated 3.5mm jack into Mic In or Line In
- Can use RadLog on Windows or pyradmon.py on Linux and other platforms (thx Thimo )
- 10m of high quality 4.8mm diameter cable, flexible and well screened
Its not quite complete yet, the case decorations need to be chosen and a better USB plug found. But its very close to being completed.
Price is to be announced once prototype is complete. It will be well under £100 and there will be a cheaper DIY version and also a high sensitivity SBM-19 version, called the radbox-19.
I would like to make a test run of 10 units, so need 10 preorders. Would anyone be interested? Thoughts and comments welcome!

Yeah I'd be interested in one. Depending on the price of course.
Is the case aluminium?

Great The case is plastic to minimise any attenuation of incoming radiation.

Looks epic.
I see it has both audio and usb, nice.
Great for programmers to test their work..
I'll see if I soon have the money available. ^_^

Cool we wouldn't want to be scaring those betas away. It looks a bit like a metal case in the pics.
Do you think the audio and maybe even the LED is nessesary on a unit like this? Your more than likely to have those functions switched off once the unit is mounted. Just a thought.

Personally, I would have no audio, but would have the LED. The audio and LED can be turned on or off with a jumper inside the unit.
