I really want to get a 3D printer and made some stuff. Print some gears, make cases etc. Anyone got any recommendations for a good but low cost printer? I have been thinking about getting a secondhand Da Vinci XYZ. Thoughts?

The Maker Bot is one of the most well-known ones.
It's not amazingly cheap but also not the most expensive and can use an extremely wide variety of material to print with.

Velleman Vertex is also pretty good for the money. It requires a fair bit of optimizing/tuning to get it to print well, but that's likely true for all 3D printers nowadays. The field in general is still nowhere near as reliable as 2D printing.

Ok I just bought a XYZ Da Vinca 1.0A, not working. With a little luck I can get this going again. :cheer: :cheer: :woohoo:

Let us know how it goes. The UltiMaker2 seems to get the best reviews from Make Magazine. They had a huge shootout of 3D printers and that one came out on top.
