Crowded with detectors, or not

Someone that has thought about why some countries has so many detectors whilst other has very few or none?

I would say there are a number of factors at work. Just off the top of my head:

• Availability of radiation sensors and internet connectivity
• General interest in radiation-related topics (countries which have lots of discussions about nuclear power plants and the like) in the population
• Money, wealth and time you need to run and maintain a station
• Language (not every country considers English an important language)
• population density (somebody has to put a sensor there)
• ...
