I was browsing ebay looking at used counters and came across this listing. I had to grab a screen shot to save it in time! $1,000,000, nah. I'd call this priceless! 

The listing states: "This CDV 700 Geiger Counter is REAL! (NOT fake) Rare!!"

That's hilarious!  It's still for sale.  The cable is made of duct tape and it is even shown in use.  But you can tell it's a fake because the meter reads 0 and one of the 'R's is backwards.

I think I paid about £50 for mine, and it works (OK had to replace the transistors).
