Hi All,

Starting to look at the Radiation / Giegier counter for home use to monitor outside radiation and report on personal website, here and the likes of GC-Mon. etc

I was wondering if there was a list of commercially available units that could do this? Or a FAQ post where models are added etc

Or if the community had a prefered model.

My Tech skills are very average and dont really want to go down a DIY route, Though a simple non solder kit, with pre built code for a pi etc could also be an option.

Thanks in advance

As far as I know, there is no list, as there are no commercially available counters that will work with radmon/GC-Mon etc. out of the box, to my knowledge. BroHogan (DIYGeiger) was really the only person making such a thing and he has stopped supplying them now, or at least until his stocks run out. However, he stopped shipping to the UK after brexit due to red tape.

It is a shame that Steadramon hasn't released his ESPGeiger-HW, because that would have fit your bill right away, less the personal website recording - it can be done, but I had to jump through some hoops to get there.

The easiest way would be to get something like a NET-IO GC10 or similar. Maybe a CAJOE RadiationD 1.1, or the new ESP32 version and wire it up to an ESP8266 (Wemos D1 Mini or similar) and install the ESPGeiger firmware on it. It requires only three wires, Ground, +5v and either the serial output from the GC10, or other, or pulse output from the CAJOE, or other pulse counter. But I get it, that even three wires can seem daunting with little experience. ESPGeiger has a wifi manager and a proper interface for configuration, so you don't ever need to touch the code. It supports radmon, GMC (GC-Map), Thingspeak, MQTT and Home Assistant integration using MQTT. Most of my counters that report to radmon.org use ESPGeiger firmware now.

I may have a solution. I've dropped you a PM.
