Hi All,

Think you may enjoy this network of sites as part of a Cosmic Ray Neutron Detection project - the main focus has been on mapping soil moisture at large scales (hundreds of meters footprint), but also plant growth, etc.

It does, however, show moderated and unmoderated neutron counts at all these global sites. Just click on a station and view Level 1 data.

Thanks for the link. That site has good soil moisture records going back some 6 years. Comparing the graph of one location in mid-Northern USA with a nearby EPA gamma graph (courtesy of NETC.com), a clear relation can be seen:

It is clear that each spring as the snow melts and spring showers occur the soil moisture peaks, and at the same time, background radiation drops. This can be explained by reduced flow of Radon gas out of the soil while the soil is saturated.
