Worrying indeed, particularly at this time of conflict and disagreement between countries around the world. They must still be some way off actually delivering a device - they will need to develop and test a re-entry vehicle and move beyond their long range missile failures. I wonder what 'consequences' will actually happen? More UN resolutions and sanctions, or a pre-emptive strike on facilities by the USA?

It looks to me that N. Korea are working their hardest to get one of these nukes in the air, targetted at some place, as soon as they possibly can... Not good at all.

From what I have read it appears the blast was around 30KT and caused a 5.3 earthquake at ground level. I don't think the test was fired on a missile though, but a warhead they are readying to go on a missile. :(

Sputnik News has a few articles on it here: sputniknews.com/asia/20160909/1045120882...ea-nuclear-test.html
There are some related stories at the bottom of that article.

It is also equally worrying that the US are maintaining a nuclear 'First Strike' policy. In other words, the US are maintaining a policy in which they can fire the first nuke.

Between this, N. Korea, all the NPPs and other nuclear facilities that are in a pretty dismal state, I really wich I had my own personal bunker under my house!

Swedish authorities (FOI www.foi.se/en/ ) claims that it was 10-20 kiloton, which should be equal to the Hiroshima bomb.

I've seen reports of between 10 and 30KT from various sources so I'm not entirely sure with the actual blast, but 1kg is 1kg too much...

It looks like N. Korea are planning for another test, so say the media. It could also be political hype. This sudden escalation between various countries' 'defenses' is very alarming. :( .
